10 Reasons in 2 minutes on why you need to be there.
For any business owners who still think Twitter and Facebook are frivolous ventures, this video will make you think twice. Reason #6 on the video is what mobiEnthusiast readers have suspected for some time:
“Reason #6: Because the next 3 Billion people will access the internet from a mobile device.”
Social Media is mobile, and that’s why you’ll be reading a lot more about it on mobiEnthusiast. This is a YouTube video (also a Social Media site) that explains Social Media in 2 minutes.
My apologies to those on unsupported phones that can’t see it. There are two versions of the YouTube video below, and hopefully one will work for you.
If you haven’t already flown to San Francisco for the Chirp Twitter Developer Conference, you can still watch the live streaming version on Justin.tv. Justin.tv is a haven for techie videos and livestreams. Here’s what they have to say about the conference simulcast:
During the two-day event, viewers can tune in to learn from the experts that keep Twitter’s heart beating. Chirp will be showcasing the very best and most successful Twitter Developers in the world throughout the conference. Put your developer hat on for a peek inside the biggest micro-blogging site in the world!
This is the first officially-sponsored developer conference by Twitter. Since Twitter acquired the iPhone app Tweetie, third-party twitter developers have become nervous about their stake in the microblogging social media giant. Perhaps this conference will answer some of those questions.
The mobile web is officially open to the masses, as evidenced by all the mobile sessions at this year’s South by SouthwestParty Conference. Plain old-fashioned WAP design is out. It’s time to step up the game on creating striking, captivating, eye-catching mobile design.
Need inspiration? Here are some mobile design showcases to get you going. These links are all desktop sites with rich graphics, so if you’re reading this on your mobile phone, consider yourself warned about huge graphic download sizes if you don’t have an unlimited data plan:
SmashingMagazine.com‘s mobile design trends. Stay on SmashingMagazine.com for awhile, because it has all kinds of free downloads for icons, fonts, graphics, textures, tutorials, and WordPress themes. It’s a designer’s dream site.
If you’d rather have a how-to manual, Nokia has produced a comprehensive mobile visual design guide for newcomers on their forum, Forum.Nokia.com. They also have mobile web templates and code that you are welcome to use at will, provided you follow the very generous terms of their license agreement.
Go develop, and tell us what you made.
